Tayrona EcoHabs

What a way to wake up! The view here is amazing. Lovely breeze last night, slept well. Took a look at the beach in front of the resort before breakfast.  No swimming - apparently they lose people every now and again. There is another path that leads to the hotel la-di-dah beach - later for that.

Went to breakfast. Service here is very, very slow. We have to learn to start our meal times earlier. No biggie, we are leaving tomorrow anyway. After breakfast took hike down to reception for some internet action. Found out our roof is tarped now so it is ready for the next bit of weather coming tomorrow. Also there is hitch in our reservation for one of our accommodations -- you can't get there from here -- as they like to say in Maine.  I am trying my damnest to avoid another 2 hour bumpy ride in the back country.  Hoping to snag a room with wifi, hot water, and a view. Hope Paula can work her magic!

Gathered up our beach stuff and headed out to the swimming beach.  It is lovely here but the water is still a bit rough with the tide coming in.  I'm a wuss for a strong ripe tide. Even Geoff didn't stay in long. Got wet enough to cool off and settled back into our chaises. Hung out and read till it was time to head back. The sun was getting really strong.

Back at our ecohab, the breeze is coming through and it is nice and comfortable to just swing in the hammock.  Every once in a while the phone dings and I get a message -- the wifi comes and goes and when it comes it doesn't stay long.  Geoff ordered lunch and it was brought to our patio -- I can't stress enough how nice this all is - except we just can't seem to enjoy it fully.  It is very unsettling thinking about home.  We just might cut this adventure short - we haven't decided yet.

Just saw our guide from yesterday walk by -- hasn't got a new hat yet!

Tomorrow we go to the Minca EcoHabs.

Next time.. Back to the Hills

  1. You are so lucky to have the sun and beach as I sit here looking out the window at the miserable weather. I wonder if the source of your riptide angst happened when you were little and got caught in a riptide at Jones Beach and I pulled you out.

  2. Wow, I have dipped in & out a bit but obviously missed a few days - adventures in Colombia AND on Reservation Road! We feel even luckier to say we did fine here on the Cape, didn't even lose power. So many trees were down everywhere and I know there was roof damage for many, I just hadn't known it was you. Let me know if we can help out, but it looks like family and local friends and neighbors came through for you. Meantime keep enjoying your vacation, the stuff you'll have to deal with at home with be the same stuff whether you come now or later in the month.
